Time is a funny thing, isn’t it? How is it that we are in 2019 already? Recently I decided that one of my goals in 2019 was to be mindful of my self-care habits and make these habits a priority.
I have still been having issues with my right shoulder that is from a fall back in May of 2017! “For the love of God” you say to yourself, “’get that thing checked out!” Right?! Well I could not agree more. It seemed to be doing much better up until the last eight months. I know that’s a long time to let something go. That’s what we all do, right? We are too busy, or in denial, or too scared to just make an appointment to go take care of ourselves. My shoulder doesn’t always hurt, only if I move it a certain way. The light bulb didn’t go off until one day a few weeks ago – I moved my shoulder and it did that thing it does! HURT! Certain movements just send a shock wave of pain almost like it gets stuck. My son Bryce said “Mom, you really should take care of that shoulder. Just go to the doctor. You are always telling everyone to take care of their skin, but you don’t take care of yourself!” Well this hit me because my 10-year-old was so right!
I realized it had been a long time since I had a massage, acupuncture, or any kind of body work done. A friend on Facebook had just posted about my friend Dayna Payne who has been her massage therapist for years. Well Dayna is the massage therapist I worked with at the very first place I opened my skin care salon. Remember when I said time is a funny thing? I walked in for my appointment and it was like two old friends who hadn’t seen each other in a long time. Not only is she going to help fix my shoulder, but now I am committed to my self-care goals (if you need an amazing massage and just an overall relaxing, balancing experience, check out Dayna’s website to learn more).
Why did I tell you this story? The truth is, I hear all too often “Amy I wish I took better care of my skin.” Well, I am here to tell you it is never too late to start! Many clients are wanting me to design a customized treatment plan for professional salon facial treatments along with an at-home skin care routine that will target their specific needs. Whether it is to reverse the aging process, diminish brown spots, soften fine lines and wrinkles, or clearing acne, each treatment requires consistency. So many clients are asking me how I keep up with my skin looking its best. I always say it started back when I was 14 and I began that famous 3-step program of cleanse, tone, and moisturize. I have always been consistent with my skin care treatments and daily home care routines.
If this year one of your goals is for practicing more self-care and taking care of your skin is at the top, I would love to help design the perfect plan for you – click here to schedule yourself a skin consultation! Self-care soothes my soul and is necessary for me to be at my best! Let’s make this year our best one yet!
